Programme Overview
The Local Economic Development Programme offers businesses the opportunity to enrol spatial/town planners, LED officers, traditional leaders, municipal workers, ward councillors, and senior and middle management in local government in a 12-month programme consisting of a series of workshops. Participants will be guided in compiling Portfolios of Evidence (PoEs) based on their workplace experience. These PoEs will be assessed and moderated, and upon being deemed competent, participants will be awarded a National Qualification.
Programme Scope
The 12-month Local Economic Development Programme focuses on the practical application of LED principles to promote sustainable development in local communities. The qualification aims to equip delegates with the skills to strategically manage local economic initiatives, understand governance and contribute to improved quality of life through economic activity.

- Communication NQF Level 4
- Mathematical Literacy NQF Level 4
- Economics NQF Level 4
- Accounting NQF Level 4

All evidence will be assessed in accordance with the general principles of assessment and the requirements for integrated assessment.
