Employment Equity (Non-Credit-Bearing Short Course)

The intensive EE training course provides an overview of the Employment Equity Act of South Africa, addressing recent modifications and newly published rules to the EEA, providing guidance on developing or updating your employment equity plan and completing your report in accordance with the new law. The programme offers an understanding of EEA codes, regulations and legislative requirements; case law updates; compliance; sectoral targets and so much more.

The Employment Equity (EE) reporting season for the 2026/2027 cycle opens on 1 September 2026 and will close on 15 January 2027 for online electronic submissions.

Topics covered include the following:

  • Introduction to the Employment Equity Act
  • EE – the role and function
  • Terminology and principles – employment equity, affirmative action and B-BBEE
  • Targets per sector and penalties
  • Designated groups
  • Disclosure of information and legislative requirements
  • An overview of the Employment Equity process
  • Employment Equity Forums/Committees
  • Employment equity plans, forms and reports
  • Codes of good practice

Key learning outcomes:

At the end of the Employment Equity training course, participants will understand:

  • The application and purpose of the Act
  • BBBEE scorecard and how it links to employment equity
  • Monitoring and enforcement provisions of the Act
  • Preparation, implementation monitoring and enforcement provisions of the Act
  • Setting up employment equity committees
  • The challenges faced by employment equity committees
  • Fines and penalties for non-compliance
  • Code of Good Practice on the Preparation, Implementation and Monitoring of EE Plans
  • Code of Good Practice on the Integration of EE into HR Policies and Practices
  • Code of Good Practice on the Handling of Sexual Harassment
  • Code of Good Practice on Disability in the Workplace

Training costs include the following:

  • Facilitation by a highly qualified subject matter expert
  • Comprehensive workbook & handouts
  • Certificate of completion

Terms and Conditions:

  • As training is not a recoverable item, entrance will NOT be permitted to unpaid delegates
  • Payment is required prior to attendance and may be made no later than the day of the training intervention
  • Only make payment once you have received a tax invoice
  • A digital certificate will be issued. No hard copies will be printed
  • Classes may be rescheduled if there are fewer than three enrolments per group
